  • Saucy Male Kiss For Heinz Mayo UK

    From Jockohomo Datapanik:

A commercial for Heinz Mayo featuring two men kissing premieres on UK TV Monday evening. The ad is part of a campaign that reads, “Give your BLT a little NYC” with the concept of “the product tastes so good ‘It’s as if you have your own New York deli man in your kitchen.” only it’s rapped in a tasty gay kiss. The UK’s Guardian reports,

“Heinz is set to challenge some viewer expectations with a light-hearted TV campaign that features two men sharing a kiss. (Watch Video) The new ad opens with a family on a normal morning routine with a young boy and girl getting ready for school and their father preparing for the office.

The young boy and girl go to the kitchen to get their sandwiches, which are being prepared by a man with a New York accent dressed in a deli serving outfit who they refer to as “mum”. When their father goes to get his sandwich he says to mum in the kitchen “See you tonight love”. However, mum barks back “Hey, ain’t you forgetting something?”, at which point the two men share a kiss. Mum then sends the father off with the words: “Love you. Straight home from work, sweet cheeks.”

Great advert, love the contrast of the tough talking New York deli guy/Mum with the sweet kids and the business man. It’s not exactly steamy stuff but hell it’s sure endearing and memorable. The Heinz Mayo commercial is miles ahead of anything that would ever appear on television in the states.

  • TAGG: Road trippin'

This round of TAGG is kind of topical today – as I’m off to a masked affair in Taipei in two weeks (thanks Jayx!)

So … you’re about to embark on a road trip to a theme party. You’re only allowed 5 CD’s, 3 essential items and are prompted to take along one outrageous/stupid item of clothing that you have to wear at the theme party to make you stand out (you must currently be in possession of this item of clothing).

Do this and then TAG 5 people:
    My CD collection:
    1. Rammstein – Reise, Reise (duh)
    2. Ghislain Poirier – Breakupdown
    3. OST – Pricilla, Queen of the Desert – Various (you seriously expected me NOT to take this?)
    4. Koos Kombuis – Bloedrivier
    5. Popaganda – The Speed Of Sound (they cover “boom boom boom, let’s go back to my room… o.m.g.)

    Essential items:
    1. Cellphone
    2. Vanity case
    3. Laptop (Taipei has free WiFi!)

    Finally, the item of clothing:
There’s this “sex on a hanger” red Jeun Paul Gualtier jacket that’s killing my budget facility…

    TAGG! you’re it!

    1. cb – ‘cuase I just need to know man!
    2. geoff – I’ve been way to quiet on your blog
    3. rod – you intrigue me ;0)
    4. bev – you actually do stuff like this
    5. erm… that Chinese girl… erm…

  • quickly, before she blows

I was almost beginning to look forward to my first typhoon (2008fengshen), but the eye changed direction today – so we’ll only have rain tomorrow…

so yeah – life rocks in Taiwan! adjusting to my new job (whilst running the one in SA at night), the weather, an amazing new culture and finding my own apartment was (and sometimes still is) a bone-chilling rush!

teaching kindergarten is no walk in the park… as an activist – I spoke in public, on the radio and even on TV. but standing in front of eighteen odd 3-year olds is downright scary. especially at first, when three of them would spontaneously burst out in tears the moment I set foor in the classroom.

my Mom explained this to me: not only have they never seen someone with so much hair (legs, arms, chest, beard) – not to mention the color of my hair, skin and eyes – I’m also a giant! from their perspective, I’m a tree right out of Tolkien’s imagination: all trunk and branches – topped with two nostrils!!

Thankfully, they’ve grown accustomed to me and have forgotten all about the “hairy troll” that the smallest one saw on the first day. (they’re reading (well, listening to) “the three goats”)

Here are some random pics for your entertainment:

  • last Thursday, I gave you my passport:

Cathay Pacific’s flight from Johannesburg to Hong Kong was awesome!

and the stint with DragonAir was lovely as well – I had 2 seats!!
now I’m in Taiwan. still finding my bearings and having a blast :0)
my post will most probably be sporadic (at best) untill I’ve managed to find a WiFi broadcast area in the township of DongGang. I will only have permanent internet at home in about a month’s time. (I have to have my Alien Resident Certificate in order to get DSL at home… oh yeah, and I need to have a home to put it in.)
should be off to town with my American host in a few minutes – cross them fingers!
love to all – can’t wait to fire up my laptop and catch up on your super blogs.
