  • notes from beyond: 28 August – SA – am

It’s 10:56am and we’re sitting in Cape Town International Airport waiting for our flight. no delays so far – but we’re early. that’s what happens when you arrive 2 hours early for your international flight and then realize the first flight on your itinerary is domestic… they should really do a bit more for domestic travelers. in a word the domestic terminal can be described as: meh.

aside: i saw a super slick BMW on the way up Table Mountain – al shiny and black – license plate: MEH

    *i laughed*

soooo… our SA adventure is coming to an end. at 12:20 we board for Jo’burg and then it’s off to Hong Kong! this time ’round we should be able to enjoy the Hong Kong experience a bit more – seeing s how we have a 9 hour stop-over before we fly to Kaohsiung.

i had 8 hours in Zurich once: walked a lot and took some snaps of a chapel’s stained glasswork – by Chagal nogal.

it still feels surreal when i think that we’ve been here for 15 days already. there’s never enough time when you’re having fun. but i prefer having had too little time rather than too much. it’s positively ghastly when you have too much time on holiday…

we did manage to do a whole lot with our time, though.

our first day was spent in Johannesburg, where we got to have fun with Karl at Gold Reef City (did the tour and everything). we also got to have dinner with Jonathan, his bo Jon as well as Clive and FJ! i was also blessed to have my dear friend Keri (from my days at Tukkies) join us for drinks. (non-alcoholic ones for me, of course.)

    busy first day: check!

the following morning Karl whisked us back to the airport – next stop: George!

  • chuckle me this

i started writing a comical post – which turned out to be way too serious (and depressing) for my liking.

so instead, i offer you some chuckles from failblog.org:

    bathroom design fail:

    reminds one of Telefun Quiz:

an alternative to the Pride Parade?
and last, but in no way the least, one very good reason to stick to budgie-smugglers:

here’s a short clip of what happened today ;0)

  • loony season

    update:

    • still processing the disappearance of a friend.
    • decided that the snake-dream was about my fear of letting my kids go.
    • doctor decided to change my medication – feeling a bit like a lab-rat for not understanding the reasons.
    • am still sane because I am loved.
    • enjoyed the kindergarten’s graduation ceremony.
    • prepared emotionally for my last day at school on Monday.
    • shocked by the news of one colleague assaulting another.
what? yes – you heard me:
the (by now not-so-)new teacher (whom I’ve expressed concern about before) drove to Ben’s house – and assaulted him…
this is the guy who’s inheriting my class on Monday!
no wonder I dream of snakes hunting my kids…
  • Geoff!

    Geoffrey,

please drop me a line and let me know you’re okay.
    Please.

  • my reality

following last night’s post, you may very well ask what my reality looks like.

despite what it might sound like, i do not live in my own little world – far removed from your own. having renounced the fear-driven version of reality doesn’t exempt me from having to face fear either. on the contrary! in order to renounce fear, i have to face it – and face it every day until i conquer it. but conquer it, i will :0)
i can describe my whole reality in one point – but will try to clarify and elaborate through extrapolation. here goes:
    1) Love really is the answer.
    2) being true to yourself doesn’t cost anything of true value
    3) Truth does not exclude truth
    4) work does not feel like work when it is your calling
    5) do what brings you joy, enjoy what you do
    6) find a common ground
    7) look for the good in everything and everyone
    8) respect and reward your body – don’t try to reconfigure or hide it’s personality
    9) accept that you are already beautiful… you’ve always been beautiful
    10) smile when you feel like it, cry when you feel like it – you get the picture
    11) engage with those around you
    12) sleep 6 to 8 hours at night and nap at noon
    13) be courteous, be kind, be gentle
    14) be thankful
    15) patience is not only a virtue – it’s a way of giving yourself time to “get it”
    16) dream
    17) live your dream
    18) live your Truth
    19) have Faith
    20) do it now.
