Die tegnologie vorm deel van die leerproses van kinders vandag in ons skole. Digitale pedagogie is deel van die manier waarop ons klas gee in die klaskamer. Digitale pedagogie is `n manier om leerders te vergesel in hul leerproses.

A digital pedagogy is the art of teaching using a digitalized medium. It is very effective across the globe and it does work. An example of this is at Stellenbosch University where we use Sunlearn. It enables students to pay full attention to the lecture and not to take many pages of notes, because you are assured that the lecture will be provided for you on Sunlearn. It allows for a much more engaging learning experience whereby the students can develop a much more profound learning relationship with their lecturers and fellow classmates. The lecturer can also understand their students better, and use material from all over the world to engage with their students and convey their message much more effectively. The students are already disciplined enough in order to know what and when to do what is required of them. Although there are many disadvantages of using a digitalized medium such as distractions, ransomware, computer viruses and the intimidation of having to learn a new way in which to learn, the advantages far out way the disadvantages once the obstacles to using a digital pedagogy is eliminated. It becomes second nature to use a digital pedagogy to learn and if one misses a lecture for whatever reason you don’t have to worry about what you have missed out on. Thus, it provides a feeling of security and one can learn in one’s own time.

What is Digital Pedagogy?Digital Pedagogy is the art of teaching which makes use of digital aids. It is where digital media is used to aid and benefit the learning processes of the learners within the classroom. An example of Digital Pedagogy that is currently being employed is the Intranet system that is being used at the school I matriculated from; Parklands College. At Parklands, a similar concept to SunLearn has been employed by the school. All the lesson material, like slides, notes, links to websites and even some E-textbooks, are uploaded to the school's local intranet. This gives the learners access to the lesson material at any point within the day. Learners are encouraged to access the lessons prior to coming into the classroom, in order for them to be accurately prepared for the lesson. This enables the learners to look over and familiarise themselves with the learning content prior to the lesson. This aids their ability to learn and understand what the teacher is saying when the lesson is actually taught. Thereby making it easier for them to learn in the classroom and for the teacher to engage with them in a more reciprocal manner. Another tool that is also uploaded to the local intranet is podcast recordings of the lessons themselves. Once the lesson has been recorded and edited it is then uploaded to the intranet for the learners to access. This enables the learners to revise and go over lessons they did not understand or even catch up on lessons that they missed. Parklands has also become a largely technologically based school, where learners are required to own a MacBook. This is then the forum on which they complete their work and submit it to the teachers, much like the way we submit tasks to SunLearn. Not only does this lessen the school's paper usage, thereby “saving the world”, but it also equips the learners with skills in Mac that they can use throughout their lives. Just because Mac is the main forum doesn't mean that the learners are not proficient in Windows. In fact they also receive windows training and ICDL training. In this way the learners are proficient on both mediums. This is a large scale way in which digital pedagogy is currently being implemented that I am aware of. It doesn't have to be used on such a large scale. In fact just the simple use of video and audio media within a lesson, as an introduction or summary, can easily enhance the learning processes of the learners and their learning environment.Digital Pedagogy is an evolving form of pedagogy and the many benefits of such a pedagogy are still being discovered.
Basically Pedagogy refers to the means and practice of education, basically looking at the best manner in which to teach. Therefore digital pedagogy refers to the manner in which the means and practice of education can be used from a digital perspective with the use of technology.

It is used to improve the experience and simplify life. It definitely has a place in South African schools, but due to the fact that our country is a third world country, this will take time to implement.
